The Bob Bain Variety CollectionGlasgow Empire Theatre Collection
The Scottish Music Hall and Variety Society have received a very generous donation from Mrs Eleanor Bain. Eleanor has very kindly donated different sections of The Bob Bain Variety Collection to the Society in Memory of our previous Hon. Secretary, Bob Bain. Material will be added to the page on a regular basis. The Empire Theatre, Glasgow, was one the main parts of Bob's collection. It will take some time to display the full donated material. Once complete, this page and the website will display a very extensive history of the Empire Theatre, Glasgow and other very well known Palaces of Variety.
Bob collected many items and information over a very extensive period and was extremely proud of his achievement. With the very generous donation that the Society has received, will ensure that all the great Stars of Scottish Variety, the great Variety Houses that they played and the titles of the many great Variety Shows will never be forgotten. When the work is complete, it will be a fitting Tribute to Bob Bain and the great Scottish Variety Theatre.

The Empire Theatre, Glasgow opened in 1897 and closed on 31 March 1963.
This year 2023 marks the 60th Anniversary of the Final Curtain. Through the achievement of Bob Bain and the work of the Scottish Music Hall & Variety Theatre Society, let's look at this page as a rebirth of the mighty Glasgow Empire.
